3D Editor. This is the directing workspace. You bring in characters, environments, camera tracks, and animation data, and you place them in a real 3D scene. The biggest complaint about AI video from professional creators is not quality. It is control. You can get a beautiful 10-second clip from a text prompt, but you cannot reliably get the camera to dolly left at frame 47 or make sure your character turns to face the window instead of the door. - Start in Canvas. If you have never used Flow Studio, start with the 2D Canvas workflow. Generate a few clips from prompts to understand what the AI models produce. This gives you a baseline for visual quality before you start directing.
- Move to 3D Editor for your next project. Once you know what the rendering looks like, open 3D Editor and bring in a character or environment. Set up a simple camera track. Then render it in Canvas. Compare the result to your prompt-only generations. The difference in control will be immediately obvious.
- Import your own assets. Flow Studio supports importing 3D models, motion capture data, and AI-generated worlds. The more of your own material you bring in, the more intentional the output becomes.
- Use keyframing for camera moves. The biggest power move in 3D Editor is keyframing camera positions. Set a start frame and end frame for the camera, and the system interpolates the movement between them. This is what turns random generation into directed footage.
- Iterate in Canvas. After you render a directed shot, you can refine it in the Canvas layer. Adjust the visual style, try different AI models, or regenerate specific frames without losing your 3D scene setup.
