What Just Happened

monday.com, the project management tool you probably use (or have tried and abandoned), just rebuilt its entire platform around AI agents. Not a feature bolted on. A foundation rebuild.

Yesterday, the company relaunched as an “AI work platform” and shipped native AI agents to every customer with zero setup. These agents can draft marketing campaigns, qualify sales leads, triage support tickets, generate reports, run project workflows, and handle budget approvals. All inside the platform you already use.

This is not a beta. It is not a waitlist. It is live now.

Why It Matters for You

Here is the shift: monday.com used to help you track work. Now it helps you do work. That is a fundamental change in what the tool is for.

If you are a small team, you probably have someone spending 2-3 hours a day on tasks an AI agent could handle: updating statuses, sending reminders, moving cards, writing status reports, chasing people for updates. That time is about to become free.

But only if you actually turn the agents on. And that is where most people will stall.

What the Agents Actually Do

The agents sit inside your existing monday.com boards and draw on context from across your workspace. They are not generic chatbots. They know your project names, your team structure, your task history, and your workflow rules.

Specific things you can do right now:

  • Draft marketing campaigns: Give the agent a brief and it builds out the task structure, assigns deadlines, and writes the first version of copy
  • Qualify sales leads: The agent can review incoming leads, score them against your criteria, and route them to the right person
  • Triage support tickets: Incoming requests get categorised, prioritised, and assigned without human intervention
  • Generate reports: Instead of building a report manually, describe what you need and the agent pulls the data and formats it
  • Run project workflows: When a task hits a certain status, the agent can trigger the next steps automatically

One-Click Connections to Other AI Tools

monday.com also added one-click connectors to Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Google Gemini. If you are already using one of these, you can pipe their output directly into your monday.com workflows without copy-pasting between tabs.

For small teams juggling three different AI tools across four different subscriptions, this integration layer alone is worth exploring.

What to Do This Week

  1. Open your monday.com account and look for the AI agents panel. If you do not see it, check your workspace settings or contact support (it is rolling out to all customers).
  2. Pick one repetitive workflow you hate. Start there. Do not try to automate everything at once.
  3. Try the agent builder with a template. monday.com ships pre-built agent templates for common workflows. Pick the one closest to what you need and customise it.
  4. Keep a human in the loop for the first two weeks. The agents work under your existing permissions, but you should review what they do before you trust them fully.

The Catch

Agents will be monetised in the future. Right now they are free, but monday.com has signalled that pricing is coming. Set them up now while it costs nothing. You will get the workflow value even if you scale back later.

Also, agents are only as good as the data in your workspace. If your boards are messy, your agents will be messy. Clean up first, automate second.

The Bigger Picture

Deloitte research shows only 25% of companies have moved even 40% of their AI experiments into production. The gap between “trying AI” and “using AI” is massive. monday.com’s approach is interesting because it does not ask you to change how you work. It brings AI into where you already work. That might be the thing that finally closes the gap for small teams.
