That is when Shopify Agentic Storefronts stop being a preview and become a live sales channel. After that date, AI shopping agents like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google&#8217;s shopping AI will be able to browse your Shopify catalog, recommend your products, and process purchases inside the AI conversation.<\/p>\n<p>If your product data is clean, you get a new sales channel for free. If it is not, AI agents will skip you and recommend your competitor instead.<\/p>\n<p>This is not theoretical. The cutover is 23 days away.<\/p>\n<h2>What Agentic Storefronts Actually Do<\/h2>\n<p>When someone asks ChatGPT &#8220;I need a waterproof running jacket under $150,&#8221; the AI agent queries Shopify stores that have Agentic Storefronts enabled. It reads your product data, checks your pricing, verifies your stock levels, and recommends your product if it matches.<\/p>\n<p>The customer never visits your website. The entire transaction happens inside the AI chat. Shopify handles the checkout. You get the sale.<\/p>\n<p>But here is the part nobody is talking about: if your product titles are vague, your GTIN fields are empty, or your structured data is broken, the AI agent cannot find you. It will not recommend a product it cannot understand.<\/p>\n<h2>Three Things to Fix Before May 30<\/h2>\n<h3>1. Clean Your Product Titles and Descriptions<\/h3>\n<p>AI agents match products by reading your titles and descriptions. If your product is called &#8220;JKT-BLK-M&#8221; instead of &#8220;Waterproof Running Jacket in Black, Men&#8217;s,&#8221; the agent cannot match it to a customer&#8217;s request.<\/p>\n<p>Check every product title:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Does it describe what the product actually is?<\/li>\n<li>Does it include the category, colour, and key attribute?<\/li>\n<li>Would a stranger understand what you sell from the title alone?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rewrite vague titles. Add specifics. This takes an afternoon and it might be the highest-ROI afternoon you spend this year.<\/p>\n<h3>2. Fill In Every GTIN Field<\/h3>\n<p>GTINs (Global Trade Item Numbers, including UPCs and EANs) are how AI agents verify that a product is real and legitimate. An audit of 14 Shopify stores found that 11 had stale, missing, or incorrect GTIN fields.<\/p>\n<p>If you sell branded products, your GTIN should be on the packaging or your supplier&#8217;s invoice. If you sell your own products and do not have GTINs, you can get them from GS1.<\/p>\n<p>Go to Shopify Admin > Products > select all > bulk edit. Filter for the GTIN column. Fill in every empty field.<\/p>\n<h3>3. Fix Your Product Schema<\/h3>\n<p>Product schema (structured data) tells AI agents exactly what your page contains: price, availability, reviews, shipping options. If your schema is broken or missing, agents cannot parse your products.<\/p>\n<p>Run your product pages through Google&#8217;s Rich Results Test. If you see errors, fix them. Common problems:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Missing &#8220;availability&#8221; field<\/li>\n<li>Price does not match what is on the page<\/li>\n<li>Review schema points to a page with no reviews<\/li>\n<li>Schema references out-of-stock variants without marking them as out of stock<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>How to Check If You Are Ready<\/h2>\n<p>Open your Shopify admin. Go to Settings > Channels. If you see Agentic Storefronts as an option, you can enable it. If your product data passes Shopify&#8217;s validation, you are good. If it flags errors, you have work to do.<\/p>\n<p>Do not wait until May 29. The validation queue will be long, and Shopify support will be slammed.<\/p>\n<h2>What Happens If You Do Nothing<\/h2>\n<p>Nothing catastrophic. Your store keeps working. But you miss out on a new sales channel that costs you nothing to enable. AI-assisted shopping is growing fast. The brands that are ready on day one will get first-mover visibility.
