You Have More Content Than You Think

Most small businesses treat a customer testimonial like a trophy. You screenshot it, post it once, and move on. That single review just generated about 3 seconds of content. But a good testimonial contains at least five different angles, each one a piece of content on its own.

Here are five ways to stretch one testimonial across an entire week of social posts without repeating yourself.

1. The Quote Card (Monday)

Pull the single best sentence from the review. Not the whole thing. One line that captures the emotional impact or the result.

Format: White text on a brand-coloured background, customer first name and product name at the bottom.

Example: “I opened the package and my whole bathroom smelled like a spa.” with “Sarah, Hinoki Candle” at the bottom.

The quote card works because it is fast to read and easy to share. One sentence is all you need.

2. The Problem-Solution Story (Tuesday)

Every testimonial hints at a problem the customer had before they found you. Tease that out and tell it as a short story.

Format: Two to three sentences. Problem first, then the turning point, then the outcome.

Example: “Sarah was buying candles that smelled amazing in the store but faded within two hours at home. Then she tried the Hinoki. Three weeks later, it is still the first thing she notices when she walks through the door.”

You are not making anything up. You are just reading between the lines of what they already said.

3. The Carousel Breakdown (Wednesday)

Take the testimonial and break it into 3-4 slides, each highlighting a different benefit the customer mentioned.

Slide 1: The problem (what they were struggling with)

Slide 2: The product (what they chose)

Slide 3: The result (what changed)

Slide 4: The quote (their exact words)

This format works on Instagram and LinkedIn because it forces people to swipe through, which increases engagement and signals the algorithm to show it to more people.

4. The Behind-the-Scenes Context (Thursday)

Share why that specific product exists or how it was made. Tie it to the testimonial without repeating the testimonial.

Format: Short caption connecting a product origin story to the customer experience.

Example: “We spent 6 months testing wick sizes for the Hinoki because we kept getting the same feedback: candles that tunnel after one burn. When Sarah said hers burned evenly for three weeks, that was the 47th wick test paying off.”

This turns a customer review into proof that you care about the details. It is not about the candle. It is about the six months of wick testing.

5. The Question Post (Friday)

Use the testimonial as a conversation starter. Take the core benefit the customer experienced and turn it into a question for your audience.

Format: A question that connects to the same experience.

Example: “What is the one thing you wish your candles actually did? Sarah said hers never lasted past the first week. Turns out, wick size matters more than most people think.”

Questions get comments. Comments get reach. And you just turned one review into five distinct posts without repeating a single word.

The Weekly Template

  • Monday: Quote card (one killer sentence)
  • Tuesday: Problem-solution story (the before and after)
  • Wednesday: Carousel breakdown (4 slides, one benefit each)
  • Thursday: Behind-the-scenes context (why the product works)
  • Friday: Question post (turn the benefit into a conversation)

One testimonial. Five posts. Zero repetition.
