The News
Cloudinary launched a suite of five AI agents this week designed to handle the stuff nobody wants to do manually: tagging, searching, moderating, and routing visual media across your entire stack. The agents are now generally available and they work through APIs connected to your existing tools, not some walled garden.
The five agents are:
- Taxonomy Agent — classifies and organises your asset library automatically
- Search Agent — finds approved, licensed assets using natural language queries in multiple languages
- Workflow Agent — builds media workflows from plain-language prompts, from ingestion to distribution
- Moderation Agent — reviews UGC, partner content, and marketplace submissions against your brand rules and can approve, flag, or reject automatically
- Coordinator Agent — orchestrates the other four agents based on a task described in plain language
Why It Matters for You
If you’re running a small brand with even a few hundred product images, you’ve felt this pain. Assets live everywhere. Naming conventions are inconsistent. Licensing status is a guess. And every time someone needs an image for a campaign, it takes twenty minutes to find the right version.
The Taxonomy Agent alone could save a solo operator hours per week. No more manually tagging product photos. No more “final_v3_USE_THIS_one.jpg” filenames.
The Moderation Agent is the sleeper hit. If you run a marketplace or accept customer photos, you know the bottleneck: someone has to review every submission. This agent does that against your brand rules, not some generic filter.
What to Do With It
Cloudinary already powers image and video delivery for over 11,000 customers including Etsy, Adidas, and Zalando. If you’re on their free tier, the agents aren’t included yet, but they’re positioning this for teams managing thousands of assets across multiple platforms.
Three things worth doing right now:
- Audit your media chaos. Count how many places your images live. If it’s more than two, you have a problem these agents are built to solve.
- Watch the Coordinator Agent. The “describe a task in plain language and it orchestrates the rest” pattern is where all enterprise tools are heading. This is your preview of what’s coming to every tool you use.
- Start tagging. Even without AI agents, consistent metadata on your assets makes every tool work better. If your current tagging is a mess, fix it now before you add automation on top of disorganisation.
The Bigger Picture
This isn’t just a Cloudinary story. Adobe just launched CX Enterprise for AI marketing workflows. Klaviyo dropped Custom Skills for its Customer Agent. The pattern is clear: every platform is bolting AI agents onto existing tools rather than building new ones from scratch.
For small businesses, the shift matters because it means the tools you’re already using are about to get a lot more capable without you having to learn something new. The question isn’t whether AI agents will reshape your workflow. It’s whether you’ll be ready when they show up in your current stack.
