Claude for Small Business Just Got Real
Anthropic launched Claude for Small Business last week, and unlike most AI product announcements aimed at enterprises, this one is actually built for you. It connects directly to QuickBooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, DocuSign, Google Workspace, and Microsoft 365. Not through a browser extension. Through real connectors that let Claude read your data and take action.
But connectors alone don’t save you time. The prompts do. Here are five that deliver actual results, not just novelty.
Prompt 1: The Cash Position Check
“Check my QuickBooks cash position against pending PayPal settlements, flag anything overdue by more than 7 days, and draft reminder emails for each flagged invoice.”
This is the payroll planning workflow that most small business owners do manually every week. Claude pulls your QuickBooks balance, cross-references it with PayPal incoming settlements, identifies what’s overdue, and writes the follow-up emails for you to review and send.
Time saved: 45 minutes of spreadsheet juggling, 3-4 individual emails. Now it takes 5 minutes of review.
Prompt 2: The Campaign Brief That Writes Itself
“Analyse my HubSpot campaign performance from last quarter. Find the campaign with the lowest conversion rate, identify where the drop-off happens, draft a revised campaign strategy, and create the visual assets in Canva.”
This is where the HubSpot + Canva connector combo gets interesting. Claude doesn’t just tell you what’s underperforming. It identifies the bottleneck, proposes a fix, and generates the creative assets. You review, edit, and publish.
Time saved: 2-3 hours of analysis, strategy writing, and design work. Now it’s 20 minutes of refinement.
Prompt 3: The Month-End Close Pack
“Reconcile my QuickBooks books against PayPal settlements for this month. Flag any discrepancies. Write a plain-English P&L summary. Package everything into a close document I can forward to my accountant.”
Month-end close is the task every business owner dreads. Claude reconciles, flags mismatches, and produces a readable summary. Your accountant gets a clean document instead of a messy spreadsheet. Everyone wins.
Time saved: 2-4 hours. Now 15 minutes of review and forwarding.
Prompt 4: The Lead Triage
“Check my HubSpot pipeline. Prioritise leads by deal value and engagement score. Draft personalised follow-up emails for the top 5, referencing their last interaction with our content.”
Claude reads your HubSpot data, ranks leads by actual potential, and writes outreach that references specific interactions. Not generic templates. Real, contextual follow-ups.
Time saved: 30-60 minutes of pipeline review plus 30 minutes of email writing. Now 10 minutes of review and sending.
Prompt 5: The Content Batch
“Look at my last 10 Instagram posts in Canva. Identify the format and style that performed best. Generate 5 new posts in that same format for next week, adapted for our upcoming product launch.”
Claude analyses your Canva content, finds the pattern that works, and produces a week’s worth of posts that match your best-performing style. Not random content. Strategically pattern-matched content.
Time saved: 3-4 hours of creative work. Now 30 minutes of review and scheduling.
The Pattern Here
Every prompt above does three things: pulls real data, makes a decision, and produces an output you can act on. That’s the difference between a chatbot and a workflow. The connectors make it possible. The prompts make it practical.
Start with one workflow. The cash position check is the safest starting point because it’s read-only until you approve the emails. Once you trust the output, layer in the campaign and content workflows.
Claude for Small Business is available now. The free tier includes enough usage to test these workflows before you commit.
