Yesterday, Adobe launched Firefly Graph to the public. It is a node-based visual canvas where you connect AI models, editing tools, and brand rules into a single workflow that anyone on your team can run. Not by prompting from scratch every time. By following a recipe you already proved works.
This is not another AI image generator. It is a way to capture how you got from brief to finished asset, then hand that entire process to someone else who hits play and gets consistent results.
What Firefly Graph Actually Does
Think of it like this: right now, if you want to create a product image from a raw photo, you open Photoshop, remove the background, generate a new scene with Firefly, adjust the lighting, resize for Instagram, and export. Every person on your team does those steps slightly differently. Firefly Graph turns that entire sequence into a visual flowchart where each step is a “node” you drag onto a canvas and connect to the next one.
You build the workflow once. Then anyone on your team can feed in a new product photo and get the same output, following the same steps, with the same brand rules applied at the same points.
Adobe says Firefly Graph ships with over 300 node types. Those include image generation (Adobe Firefly, OpenAI, and Google models), background removal, compositing, colour adjustment, upscaling, video generation (including Runway and Google Veo), and every editing action you already use in Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere. They are all on the same canvas.
Why This Matters for Small Teams
The headline feature here is not “another AI tool.” It is workflow capture. The best creative person on your team has a process in their head. Firefly Graph externalises that process into something shareable and repeatable.
For small businesses that cannot afford a production team, this means:
- Your one designer builds a workflow for product photography that removes the background, composites the product onto a brand-approved scene, adjusts colour to match your palette, and exports at the right dimensions. The marketing coordinator runs it the next day without needing to know Photoshop.
- A campaign workflow that takes a hero image and automatically generates the social versions, the email banner, and the display ad, all cropped and styled to your brand guidelines. Built once, reused for every campaign.
- Versioning that works. When you change one node, only that step and everything downstream re-runs. Everything upstream keeps its previous result. No starting over from scratch.
How the Node System Works
Each node on the canvas does one thing. A text prompt node generates an image. A background removal node isolates the subject. A compositing node places your product into a scene. A style node applies your brand colours and typography rules. You drag them onto the canvas, connect them with lines, and configure the settings for each one.
The key difference between this and prompting an AI model in a chat window: every decision is visible, adjustable, and reproducible. You can see exactly which model generated what, which settings produced which output, and where the brand rules were applied. Swap out one model for another and only the downstream results change.
When you are happy with a workflow, you can package it with its own interface. Team members see a simple form where they upload their image, click run, and get the finished asset. They never see the canvas or the nodes. They just get the output.
What to Look Out For
The enterprise edition is available now as part of Creative Cloud for Enterprise Edition 5. Pricing was not disclosed at launch. For individual creators and small teams, Adobe has opened a private beta waitlist. No timeline on general availability for non-enterprise users.
Three things worth watching:
- The ComfyUI comparison. Firefly Graph does something very similar to what ComfyUI already does for open-source AI workflows. The difference is Adobe integration. If you already live in Creative Cloud, Firefly Graph connects to your tools, your assets, and your brand rules without exporting to a separate platform. If you do not, ComfyUI is free and more flexible but requires technical setup and does not connect to your Adobe licence.
- IP indemnification. Adobe covers IP indemnification for outputs from its own Firefly model, OpenAI models, and Google models used within Firefly Graph. That matters for businesses that need legal protection on generated content. ComfyUI does not offer this.
- The workflow-as-asset idea. This is the part that could genuinely change how small teams operate. If your best creative process lives in someone’s head, it is fragile. If it lives in a Firefly Graph, it is durable, shareable, and improvable. That is the pitch that should get small teams on the waitlist.
What This Unlocks
Right now, most small businesses use AI tools one at a time. Generate an image here. Remove a background there. Resize manually. Re-prompt when the results are inconsistent. Firefly Graph makes it possible to string those steps together into a process that produces the same quality output every time, no matter who runs it.
That is the shift. Not a better model. A better system for using models. The teams that figure out how to build and share workflows like this will produce more consistent creative at higher volume than teams that keep prompting from scratch every time.
The waitlist for individual and small-team access is open now at firefly.adobe.com/graph. Enterprise customers can talk to their Adobe representative to get started immediately.
